Proposed Updates to the US 2 Commuter Schedule

Notice of Public Hearing

Date; Wednesday February 25th 9 AM

Location Online at; https://zoom.us/j/95660460995

Rural Community Transportation (RCT) warmly invites community members to participate in an online public hearing on February 25 at 9:00 AM to review and discuss proposed updates to the US 2 Commuter route and schedule.

Due to low ridership and at the request of the Vermont Department of Transportation (VTRANS) as RCT’s funding partner, RCT is proposing to reduce weekday commuter service from three daily runs to two, effective March 2nd, 2026. We understand that any service change can impact riders, and these decisions are made out of necessity with great care and thoughtful consideration based on input from our riders and careful examination of community needs.

To help maintain connections with service between Montpelier and Burlington operated by Green Mountain Transit (GMT), RCT is proposing to keep the current morning and late day round trips. The proposal would eliminate the early afternoon run departing the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center at 2:40 p.m. and the Montpelier Transit Hub at 4:15 p.m. These proposed changes would go into effect March 2nd, 2026.

Community members are encouraged to attend the hearing, ask questions, and share feedback. Your voice is important and appreciated.

RCT is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enriching lives and strengthening the social, economic, and environmental well-being of the communities we serve.
