RCT to Operate Stowe’s Mountain Road Shuttle for the 2026–2027 Winter Season
Rural Community Transportation (RCT) is excited to announce that it will operate Stowe’s iconic Mountain Road Shuttle for the upcoming 2026–2027 winter season.
Service will begin Friday, November 27, 2026, and run through Sunday, April 4, 2027. The fare-free shuttle will operate seven days a week, providing convenient transportation along the Mountain Road corridor and connecting Stowe Village with Stowe Mountain Resort.
As RCT takes the wheel this winter, riders can also look forward to a fresh new look for the service. Newly branded buses and updated signage will bring a distinctive and welcoming identity to the Mountain Road Shuttle while making the service easier to recognize and navigate.
The shuttle will also be operated with hybrid buses, offering a more environmentally conscious way to travel along the busy Mountain Road corridor. By choosing public transportation, riders can help reduce the number of vehicles on the road, ease traffic congestion, and support a more sustainable approach to getting around Stowe.

The Mountain Road Shuttle plays an important role in helping reduce traffic congestion along the busy Mountain Road corridor while providing a convenient transportation option for residents, employees, and visitors. Whether riders are heading to the mountain, going to work, visiting local businesses, or enjoying everything Stowe has to offer, the shuttle provides an easy way to leave the car behind and enjoy the ride.
In addition, the Mountain Road Shuttle also connects riders with RCT’s Route 100 Commuter service connecting Morrisville to Waterbury through Stowe, creating more opportunities for public transportation connections between communities throughout central and northern Vermont.
